Oklahoma County Warrant Search
An Oklahoma County warrant search examines public records maintained by courts and law enforcement agencies to determine whether local authorities want a particular individual. A court in Oklahoma County can issue a warrant for anything from unpaid fines to suspected criminal activity or regulatory noncompliance.
While warrants do not conclusively prove a person's participation in a crime, they can result in limited job opportunities, travel restrictions, and some financial consequences, given that they show up during background checks. A warrant can also trigger a person's arrest in Oklahoma County, for which an interested party can review the Oklahoma County arrest records for related details.
Generally, individuals with outstanding warrants in the county are encouraged to take proactive measures to address them to avoid the associated repercussions.
Are Warrants Public Records?
Yes. The Oklahoma Open Records Act empowers the public to demand information about a government body's official activities so long as the requested information is not exempt by law or court order.
Per the Act, precisely 51 O.S. §§ 24A.30 and 24A.8, Oklahoma County warrant records are "public records," meaning they can be obtained or seen by anyone. However, a warrant check conducted by the general public will not reveal sealed warrants, personal financial information, Social Security numbers, protected addresses, mental health information, or any other confidential data or documents.
Types of Warrants in Oklahoma County
Unresolved court obligations or criminal activity in Oklahoma County can cause a warrant to be issued in a person's name. The specific type of warrant a local district or municipal court judge issues depends on the circumstances of a case. Some warrants may be released for failure to pay a criminal/traffic ticket or honor a promise to appear, and others to allow the police to search for and seize criminal evidence, and so on.
However, warrants approved in Oklahoma County typically fall into one of the following categories:
- Arrest warrants
- Search warrants, or
- Bench warrants

Active Warrant Search in Oklahoma
In Oklahoma County, warrants are issued by courts and executed by police departments or other designated authorities. However, they are predominantly court case records or "court records," which means that all warrants, regardless of type or purpose, are available through the court system within the access limits imposed by law or court order.
However, warrants of arrest can also be found in law enforcement agency records per 51 O.S. § 24A.8, which permits the public to see judicial orders commanding a police officer to arrest a particular person.
Arrest Warrant Search
To search for arrest warrants in Oklahoma County, a person can access the Oklahoma County Sheriff's Office Warrants Search system. This system utilizes a name search feature that requires the input of a person's first and last name to find active arrest warrants in the region.
Individuals can also approach their nearest law enforcement agencies to inquire about known warrants or access online court databases to look up open cases and see if the court issued any warrants (explained in the next section).
Bench Warrant Lookup
Unlike standard arrest warrants, which command a person's arrest due to a penal code violation, bench warrants order a person's arrest because of contempt of court or judicial noncompliance. For instance, bench warrants can be released for probation violations, unpaid court fines, and failures to appear. These warrants can be found by searching court records online or offline.
Members of the public who wish to obtain Oklahoma County court records remotely, specifically district court records, can access any of these databases:
- The Oklahoma State Court Network, or
- The On Demand Court Records system
Usually, these online searches are processed with a case party's name, case number, or filing date range, but users may find other filters to narrow their search.
One can also request court records from the Oklahoma County District Court Clerk's Office following the clerk's guidelines. Alternatively, they can visit the local district courthouse at the address below to search case records for active warrants.

To find municipal court records, an individual can access the relevant court's online case search system ( if available on its official website) or directly contact court staff to retrieve case records.
For example, those seeking warrants issued by the Oklahoma City Municipal Court can access the Online Record Search system from the left menu of the court's website. They can search with a name, PD case number, citation number, warrant number, vehicle plate, or VIN (Vehicle Identification Number). On the system, active warrants are displayed in red.
Free Warrant Search
There is no fee to access web-based court and police databases to find Oklahoma County warrants. Such records are available free of charge to the public.
However, suppose a request to a police department or court involves photocopying records. In that case, the requester may be charged a fee to cover the costs of labor, materials, equipment, and postage (if the individual will receive the records by mail).
Can You Check Warrants Online?
Yes. Certain independent companies maintain records search systems that anybody can access to find varied public records online, including warrants. These systems, hosted on publicly accessible websites, are known for expansive searches (covering multiple United States jurisdictions), 24/7 availability, and simplified user navigation.
Although third-party websites are typically searchable with a first and last name, users may only see limited information for free, with the rest hidden behind a paywall. Furthermore, confidential records are not retrievable from these sites and should be sought from official sources, provided the requester is legally authorized to obtain such information.
Do Warrants Expire?
Yes, in some cases. 22 O.S. § 22-1231 voids all Oklahoma search warrants that remain unexecuted and unreturned to the issuing magistrate/judge 10 days from the issue date. However, the law excludes search warrants sanctioning the forensic, scientific, or digital analysis of samples or items already in law enforcement custody. These warrants are executed "within a reasonable time" and returned to the court no later than 10 days from the execution date.
Arrest warrants, on the other hand, never expire in Oklahoma County. They stay outstanding until the wanted parties are apprehended, surrender, or die. Nonetheless, a court can quash (withdraw) an arrest warrant, effectively voiding it.
How to Clear a Warrant Without Going to Jail
Turning oneself over to an issuing jurisdiction is a recommended way to clear a warrant while avoiding jail time in Oklahoma County. People who appear in court voluntarily, participate in the local sheriff's Surrender Program, or attend one of the Oklahoma County Warrant Clearing Events (see flyer from the November 8, 2024 event) may be able to resolve their warrants without the risk of being arrested.
When considering a court appearance, one should ideally consult an attorney beforehand. The individual may also need to appear with their lawyer or a bail bonds agent to pay associated fines or otherwise resolve the matter.
